Subaru Motorsports USA Looks to Finish Strong in ARA Season Closer at Lake Superior Performance Rally

October 10, 2024

Marquette, MI – The Subaru Motorsports USA teams are coming to the end of the 2024 American Rally Association (ARA) season at the October 11-12 Lake Superior Performance Rally (LSPR). With Driver Brandon Semenuk and co-driver Keaton Williams having clinched an ARA championship three-peat at Overmountain Rally Tennessee, their teammates – extreme sports legend Travis Pastrana and co-driver Rhianon Gelsomino – look to end their return ARA season with a third consecutive first place finish.

While Semenuk attends the Red Bull Rampage mountain biking event the same weekend as LSPR, racing phenom Lia Block will pilot the WRX ARA24 in his stead with Williams at her side. The 18-year-old is currently in her rookie F1 Academy season driving for Williams Racing but is no stranger to ARA: “It's been almost a year since I did my last rally,” Block notes, having become the series’ youngest champion ever in the Open 2WD division in 2023, "It's really exciting. I can't stop smiling."

Pastrana is looking forward to this year’s LSPR: “It will be very exciting to see Lia jump into the new WRX after winning the 2WD championship last year,” he says, adding that “It’s one of my favorite events of the season.”

Self-billed as the “Oldest, Meanest, Toughest” event of the season, the Lake Superior Performance Rally features a challenging mix of terrain across its stages, some of which trace back to LSPR’s origins as a World Rally Championship (WRC) event in the 1970s. As always, the early fall Michigan weather will be an unpredictable factor, with rain and cold temperatures likely over the rally weekend. The weather will do nothing to dampen the spirits of the spectators, who routinely make LSPR one of the best-attended, most fun events on the ARA schedule.
