Building upon the success of its 2023 electric SUV predecessor, the new 2024 Solterra EV continues to uphold the Subaru values of safety, reliability, and performance. As our most advanced Subaru ever, the 2024 Solterra has new and upgraded safety technology, as well as a number of enhancements – including a significant boost to charging speed – all without any increase in pricing.
The 2024 Solterra boasts even more new driver safety features not yet available on existing Subaru models. The new EV’s interior has also received some upgrades, as well as a redesigned steering wheel.
Compared to the 2023 model, the 2024 Subaru Solterra features several impressive advancements, including:
In addition, the price of the Solterra remains the same from 2023 to 2024.
With several exciting new features that elevate the driving experience, let’s take a closer look at what’s new with the 2024 Subaru Solterra EV!
Perhaps the most exciting new feature of the 2024 Subaru Solterra EV is its upgraded battery conditioning system that allows it to charge nearly 50% faster overall. The 2024 Solterra can fast-charge in about half the time as the previous model, going from a 10% battery charge to 80% capacity in about 35 minutes using DC Fast Charging. Previously, the 2023 Solterra achieved a comparable charge in roughly one hour. The 2024 Solterra can charge at temperatures below freezing significantly faster than the previous model, 2x as fast at 32 degrees and 4x as fast at 14 degrees Fahrenheit
Both the 2024 and 2023 Subaru Solterra are equipped with a 72.8 kWh rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack to keep most drivers powered on their daily commute with nightly at-home EV charging. On longer adventures, the Solterra can charge at any of the more than 64,105 public Level 2 or Direct Current Fast Charging (DCFC) stations located throughout the US.
Subaru has built a reputation for producing vehicles with an emphasis on safety. Like its 2023 predecessor, the 2024 Subaru Solterra is equipped with an array of standard safety features designed to give owners peace of mind – on and off-road.
Upgrades to our EyeSight® Driver Assist Technologies lead the pack of new safety features on the 2024 Solterra. These additions include Traffic Jam Assist
Another new driver safety feature in the 2024 Solterra is the newly added DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System, which uses infrared camera technology to monitor driver eye and head positioning. If a driver appears to be distracted or drowsy, this system alerts the driver to retrain their focus on the road ahead. Front Cross-Traffic Alert also makes its debut in the 2024 Solterra and is standard on all trims. This feature monitors traffic and alerts drivers to oncoming vehicles, including those that may not be visible from the driver’s seat.
These new 2024 features are rounded out by existing Subaru driver safety technology, also found on the 2023 model, including Hill Descent Control, Blind-Spot Detection and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
Both 2023 and 2024 Subaru Solterra models are equipped with our standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, which offers greater stability on all types of terrain, alongside optimal distribution of power to enhance traction and handling. Both model year vehicles are built on the e-Subaru Global Platform – our strongest and most rigid structure to-date, with strategically placed crumple zones to protect the vehicle’s occupants in the event of a crash.
Even with faster charging capability and plenty of thrilling new features including Low-Speed Hands Free and DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System, Subaru has not raised the price of Solterra from 2023 to 2024. The suggested MSRP for each trim remains as follows:
The 2024 Subaru Solterra also comes with a new redesigned steering wheel. Limited and Touring trims feature a heated steering wheel, another new addition that keeps comfort top-of-mind.
The Solterra Limited and Touring also prioritize a relaxing ride with a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and 8-way adjustable passenger seat. Adding to the new EV’s spacious feel, the 2024 Solterra Touring trim features a panoramic glass roof with retractable sunshade to enjoy the view on road trips.
The 2024 Solterra keeps the same dynamic powertrain used in its 2023 iteration. Dual electric motors support the Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) drivetrain, providing outstanding traction and capability in all kinds of weather and terrain.
The 2024 Solterra achieves the same AWD performance as non-electric, SUBARU BOXER® engine-equipped models, producing zero tailpipe emissions and eliminating the need for gasoline or an oil change.
As with the 2023 model, the 2024 Solterra packs astonishing power, particularly for an electric vehicle. Both the 2023 and 2024 Solterra EVs are equipped with StarDrive® technology, featuring dual motors and a durable battery. Both model year EVs generate 215 horsepower (hp) and 249 pound-feet of torque.
Subaru SUVs have long been known for their off-road capabilities, and the 2024 Solterra EV follows in that tradition. Both the 2023 and 2024 Solterra feature a rugged build with a segment-leading 8.3 inches of ground clearance, allowing the Solterra to scale even the most challenging terrain with ease. All trims for both model years are equipped with X-MODE® Dual Mode System to provide extra power and traction when it’s needed most.
All trims of the Solterra EV deliver exceptional efficiency for AWD-equipped vehicles. The 2024 Solterra offers the same efficiency as the 2023 model year. Based on a full battery charge, the EPA estimates the following mileage for each of the 2024 Subaru Solterra trims:
The 2024 Subaru Solterra is our most advanced offering yet, living up to the Subaru reputation for safety and innovation. On top of new, upgraded safety features and technology, the 2024 Solterra EV offers improved DC fast charging and faster cold-weather charging. Best of all, MSRP remains the same as the 2023 model, giving you an outstanding value on an exceptional vehicle.
Thanks to the EV tax credit legislated in the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, new Solterra models leased through Subaru Motors Finance
The 2024 Subaru Solterra is available now.
All electric vehicles replenish their batteries at different rates depending on the type of charger used. On a Level 1 charger, the 2024 Solterra can gain about 2-4 miles of range per hour plugged in. Using a Level 2 charger, the Solterra takes about nine hours to recharge fully. At a DCFC charging station, the Solterra can fast-charge from 10% to 80% in about 35 minutes.
Charging the 2024 Subaru Solterra is as simple as plugging it in. Standard 120-volt home outlets support Level 1 charging, and 240-volt Level 2 chargers can be professionally installed for those who need a faster option at home. Drivers can also charge their Solterra for a fee at public Level 2 and DCFC charging stations.
Level 1 charging can be done at home without any additional equipment or installation. Level 2 charging can also be done at home, but typically requires professional installation of a 240-volt circuit. Public (and semi-public, such as at workplaces) Level 2 charging stations are also located throughout the country, as are DCFC stations.
