At Subaru, we believe that what we leave behind reflects who we are. That’s why for over two decades, Subaru has been committed to leaving a legacy of protecting and conserving the Earth for future generations.
Trees are essential to the health and well-being of our communities today and for future generations. Trees provide oxygen, cool our communities, filter water, clean the air, prevent flooding, and can improve health.
But every year, our communities lose 36 million trees due to age, disease, infestation, and extreme weather. To help address this problem, Subaru is proud to continue our partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation as we work together to grow greener, healthier communities for generations to come. Each spring for our Subaru Loves the Earth® initiative, Subaru and our retailers provide and distribute trees across the country. Anyone, regardless of owning a Subaru, can reserve a regionally appropriate tree free of charge at their local participating Subaru retailer.

Heuberger Subaru partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation to enhance their community’s yards through the distribution of 200 trees to their customers across 44 ZIP codes. These trees improve the Colorado Springs community, with each tree representing their continued support of environmental stewardship. Everyone who picked up a tree became part of this effort, creating a community that understands that caring for the environment means caring for each other.
This past Earth Day, Colonial Subaru came together to do more than just talk about protecting the planet — they put something green and growing right into people’s hands. Colonial Subaru set up early in the morning, lining tables with various regionally appropriate trees. Throughout the day, volunteers handed out 100 trees, celebrating nature and community.
Sierra Subaru of Monrovia launched their first tree giveaway in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation. Recognizing the significant impact of successful planting and environmental compatibility, they offered a diverse selection of regionally appropriate trees, ensuring a positive environmental impact in their community. This valuable opportunity was open to all Monrovia residents, not just Subaru owners. Over 200 trees were reserved, with each one representing a step toward a more sustainable community.
Across the country, many retailers have received a certification in our Eco-Friendly Retailer Program. What does this mean? The Subaru Eco-Friendly Retailer Program is a voluntary environmental program designed for retailers who want to make a positive impact on their community and local environment. This comprehensive program helps Subaru retailers minimize environmental impact by focusing on reduced energy consumption. The program focuses on five key areas of a facility: energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, waste management, and community involvement. For example, Subaru retailers look to reduce water consumption by installing low-flow fixtures and a water-efficient car wash. Simultaneously, we ensure our eco-friendly retailers practice proper disposal of harmful waste, including oil, coolant, batteries, and tires. Our partner Green Dealer Support concluded an onsite inspection to make sure these retailers adhere to the requirements. We honor the stores that have been awarded the Eco-Friendly Retailer Program Certification as they work toward sustainability and doing right by our planet. Check your local retailer’s website for an Eco-Friendly Retailer Certification badge.
